Solar Panels Provide Energy and Income

In many developing countries, the use of radios, mobile phones and lights require batteries that can be expensive for families with low incomes.  However, an alternative energy source is available to power small appliances such as these that is both cheaper and renewable.  Small solar panels, assembled with low-cost materials, are affordable and can last several years, allowing the poor to save money by using the sun’s energy to power some of their electrical devices instead of dry cell batteries, which are expensive and produce hazardous waste if not disposed of properly.
